Hello All,
How you been doing? Isn’t it amazing how such a small sentence can sometimes make a huge difference in one's life? By now everyone will agree, when I say – “Humans have a consciousness beyond our body”. We think, analyse and feel. Sp, we have something called the Mind. So considering we own it, should we not try to take care of it! I am sure many of us have life questions like –‘When will it be ok?’ , 'Why me?’ , ‘How did this happen like this?’ I may not be able to answer those here, but I’ll definitely try to tell you where am trying to seek such answers.
I noticed, how people always link physical health to mentality. They ask if being healthy is not enough to be happy! I urge you all to ask yourself two different questions – Are you physically ill and Are you mentally fit? Answers lie within yourself.
I conducted mini-survey amongst my friends from various walks of life. Here are a few very great replies I received-
“Mental health is equally important like physical health. If someone is physically strong, doesn't mean that he/she is mentally strong. To keep our mind calm, stress-free, emotionally strong, well balanced mind, positive attitude, positive thoughts everything plays a very good role to have a good mental health.”
“Talking openly about Mental health issues are a taboo. In some cases, taking a mental health counselling for an Individual is difficult as socially they will not accepted. And in other cases, any behaviour seen different from others, people suggest to take a counselling.Individual or people related are really not educated on to topic to identify the behaviour difference when a person is going through a mental health concern, rather it is seen a arrogance/bad behaviour of a person.”
As you probably notice, talking openly about how you feel is kind of a taboo in India. You get problems which might break you, but hey! don’t show you're broken. I believe major lack of our society is this ability to accept these mental conditions. Multiple can be factors working towards your mental health. Some might be unavoidable, some even can be medicinal. What matters is how much are you putting effort to help yourself! Learn to help yourself however you see fit to keep yourself happy.
In this matter, each person might have a different solution. But here are some helpful tips that might come in handy to you –
1. Daily stress and anger need to be faced and dealt with before it builds up. Forgive and forget helps in the long run.
2. Think positive, speak positive and act positively. Avoid Negative perspectives or judgements. Also, remember to not let such a perspective affect you.
3. Have one or more interests and try to work on them.
4. Do meditation and pranayama to know your body, work on the weak areas, and improve your concentration. Physical activity releases a lot of endorphins which are happy hormones and good for mental health.
5. Always be sportive, self-confident, and socialize with people to know things better. Know that everyone has problem, and you're never alone facing the problem.
6. Avoid hiding things from people and suffering inside. Try to talk to somebody about our problems. Seek help in whichever form you see fit.
7. Show kindness. You never know who is going through what phase of life. If you feel able enough, help another friend or a relative to feel able for themselves too.
This is indeed the toughest article am writing. Taking me days to reiterate and try to be sensitive about such vast topic. But it is just a small effort from my side in this chaotic world. Remember, everyone is going through problems and handling them different. Nobody is right, no one is Wrong. Believe in you and make sure to do justice for yourself.
Please Take Care,
Keep Smiling,
With Loads of Love,
Maddy.
